eQuran Touch
Learn 100+ Quranic vocabulary Easily

Project overview
eQuran Touch is Learn 100+ Quranic vocabulary Easily. An iPad app specially designed for kids to learn the Arabic language. Built with high standards for performance, security, and intuitive user experiences, the platform is engineered to support mission-critical workflows and seamless scale.
What was the problem or pain point
Client Dilemma & Technical Bottleneck
eQuran Touch is a world-renowned digital Quran mobile application used by millions of Muslims globally. The application faced significant technical and user experience challenges: rendering intricate Arabic calligraphic ligature fonts flawlessly across diverse Android and iOS screen resolutions without blurring, synchronizing audio playback of famous reciters word-by-word with the visual text, and supporting massive offline audio and translation downloads without crashing memory-constrained mobile devices.
What we suggested to the client
Solid Sphere Architectural Recommendation
Solid Sphere proposed engineering native iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin) mobile apps centered on crisp vector font rendering, precise time-stamped audio synchronization, and intelligent local storage management. We advised implementing an embedded SQLite database storing verse indices, morphological root words, and multiple translations, paired with a custom high-performance audio engine capable of seamless verse-by-verse looping and background playback.
What made this project challenging
Rendering intricate Arabic calligraphy fonts crisply across varied mobile screen densities
Synchronizing audio recitation playback line-by-line with interactive word translation tooltips
Providing complete offline functionality for full 604 pages without bloated app bundle size
Designing a tranquil, distraction-free reading experience with night mode and bookmarking
What was implemented and how it was implemented
Step-by-Step Technical Execution
We rebuilt the mobile applications natively in Swift and Kotlin, developing a custom typography rendering engine that uses vector glyphs and precise glyph kerning to display the sacred Arabic text in full Uthmanic script at any zoom level. We created an audio synchronization system that references microsecond timestamps for every verse and word, highlighting the active text synchronously with the reciter's audio. We engineered an offline download manager that enables users to download full audio recitations by chapter or page, implementing resumable downloads, local caching, and storage integrity verification. We added advanced search capabilities querying translations and tafsir (exegesis) in multiple languages via SQLite full-text search (FTS5), and implemented customizable reading themes and night mode to reduce eye strain during prolonged reading.
How we delivered
Engineered custom text-rendering engine preserving authentic Uthmanic calligraphy ligatures
Built interactive audio player with line-by-line highlighting synced to high-definition recitations
Developed vocabulary learning flashcard system with spaced repetition algorithms
Optimized offline SQLite database to package entire Quran, translations, and tafseer under 40MB
What did we use to implement it
Technology Stack & Technical Rationale
Swift and Kotlin were chosen for native platform performance, ensuring 60fps text scrolling and efficient memory handling. Custom Vector Font Rendering ensured crystal-clear Arabic calligraphy on all display densities. SQLite with FTS5 provided ultra-fast, completely offline search across verses and translations. Native Audio Streaming APIs (AVAudioPlayer on iOS and ExoPlayer on Android) powered low-latency playback with background audio controls. Firebase provided push reminders for daily reading goals and analytics.
